Toxicological evaluation of a Nigeria-made polyherbal product on selected reproductive functions in adult male Wistar rats

Ruzu bitters black for men (RBBM) is a polyherbal product widely used amongst in Nigeria to enhance libido, rejuvenate male organs and manage erectile dysfunctions, prostate anomalies, weak erection, premature ejaculation. This study was carried out investigate the toxicological effect from use of herbal product. Acute toxicity test RBBM on rats two phases; 10 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg 1000 phase I 1600mg/kg, 2900 5000 II, were administered respectively. For sub-acute toxicity, groups 5 animals each received (0.87 and1.17 respectively) third group water orally 28 days. The analyzed median lethal dosage, sperm morphology, motility, count, viability histology testes as indices toxicity. No death recorded acute studies but there moderate physical sign In study, significant increase (p˂0.05) testicular weight Group 1 animals. Also, motility increases significantly while decrease multiple tail across groups. not toxic morphology causes no at albino Wistar rats.
